Billy Scanlan. Raised in California Billy hadn’t finished high school before he was serving in short-term missions: building shelters for low-income families in Mexico, hurricane reconstruction in the Dominican Republic, and housing for Christian teachers in Tanzania. With a love for evangelism and photography, for the last five years, Billy has served as DTS staff with YWAM-Alaska, Maui and Kona, helping lead outreaches to Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Malaysia, Brunai, and Nepal. Called to use photography to build bridges between need and resource and to highlight issues of injustice but with a focus on God’s redemptive stories, Billy has staffed with Photogenix DTS in Kona, and is now developing a web-portal/mission gateway for photo journalists that he hopes will showcase for their transformative stories of hope.
